House-Shifting …
Author: Devyl Gyrl / Category: Blogging, Friends / Family, Goodness, TwitterHey everyone!
I feel like I owe a blog to those of you who have looked in on me while I moved from one house to another over the last week. Thank you for DM’ing me through Twitter and/or emailing/texting me. I really appreciate knowing that I’m missed by some! I certainly missed speaking with my “regulars” and spending time chillaxing on Twitter with all ya’ll cool peeps!
It took the full week, but we finally got everything moved from the old house to the current house. The house we’re renting now is a few hundred square feet bigger, and has a wood-burning fireplace/stove in the living room. The place we’re renting now is in a nicer area of town, and closer to most things. It is right around the corner (ok, around a few corners, technically) from my roommates’ mother, and has enough bedrooms for all of us. THAT is awesome, because “us” includes myself and my tween, my roommate & her two boys (the boys share a room), and my roommate’s brother. My roommate, A, and her brother, M, are the siblings of my best friend. I have always (well, since I was 18 or so) regarded them as family, and it is nice to have family around all the time.
Anyway. We moved all of our stuff over to the new place, and got the old place cleaned out and cleaned up. We are now faced with the mountainous task of unpacking boxes and getting things put into new places. I do mean MOUNTAINOUS. I have boxes piled in the small storage closet, floor to ceiling, four boxes deep. I also have boxes lined in our kitchen, floor to ceiling, along a 10-foot wall space. AND I have boxes in the living room, piled everywhere. It is INSANE! I meant to take pictures of the mountains of boxes, but I forgot and have them spread out everywhere at the moment.
I can’t wait to have my bedroom set up! I have some pretty pieces - bombay-style nightstands & dresser, interesting-shaped deco boxes, pretty vases, beautiful lamps, elephant-head candlesticks and lamp, and deep red sheets with a chocolate brown duvet cover for my goose-down comforter. Hopefully I’ll be able to find some sort of gadgets for the walls, and maybe a material or paint to go on the huge white cabinet I have in my room.
Again, thank you to my Twitter family for caring, and for checking up on me. I hope to be back to full-speed Twittering soon!
Love & Hugs,
Devyl Gyrl
