Baby S Update - 9.3.08 :(
Posted by: Devyl GyrlThis morning, I received word that Baby S is being discharged from the hospital … without her chemotherapy treatment. This is *not* good news folks. Her counts are far too low for them to risk putting her through another round.
Instead, she is being sent home for a week, and will have to receive a shot every day that will *hopefully* help build her immune system. She’ll be checked back into the hospital next week, and hopefully her counts (white blood cell, and some others I’m not sure of) will be high enough that she can endure another round of chemo.
As I explained before, this means that we’re putting off her surgery for at least one more week too. Every day that goes by without her surgery is another day that the cancer could metastasize (spread to another part of her body & latch on). We are encouraged that the initial three week round of chemotherapy did shrink the tumor slightly - that means that the chemo is working. We are very frustrated, however, at all the setbacks poor Baby S has endured.
So please, keep her in your hearts and minds, and help us help her get stronger.

Have you guys looked at acupuncture for her? I know it’s great for building immune systems and i’ve heard of it reducing tumor sizes. There’s no guarantees but at this point, what do you have to lose?
You remain in my thoughts and prayers as does Baby S and her parents.

God. That poor baby. The only comfort is that she doesn’t really understand what all that means. Praying for you all and sending you my love.

My heart aches for you all. Baby S is one heck of a tiny little fighter. I ampraying for all of you. I just want to be able to hug you all.

My mom had problems with her blood count on chemo, too, and the meds did a great job increasing them. I am praying that Baby has the same response.
