Emergency … Averted (#97/365)

Today, some of you may have seen the ping that I sent out about Baby S. I still do not have full details, as I was not with C & B & Baby S when it happened. However, the basis is that Baby S managed to remove her pic line from her chest. Should she have removed it partway, she would have needed emergency surgery to remove it the rest of the way properly, to ensure no damage was done to veins or her tissue/muscle/skin in the surrounding area.

However, the little booger managed to remove the entire pic line. While they still needed to get X-rays at the emergency room, and they may need to put her on antibiotics just in case, Baby S will NOT need surgery. Thank goodness!

What this does mean is that when she goes in for her last surgery, to remove the remaining two masses in her back, they will need to poke and prod her a little more than WOULD have been necessary if the stinker had left the pic line alone. Asi es la vida …

At least she is safe! Tomorrow, I will know her AFP score to share with you all (they are drawing the blood today, since she is already at the hospital). Although the last score was slightly elevated, we do not expect it to have risen any further. For now, Baby S gets blood drawn every two weeks to ensure that she is still in remission. After the surgery, I believe she will be getting labs once a month (although do not hold me to that, because right now my brain is so frazzled I am not sure which way is up!).

If anything else comes of this craziness, I will let you all know ASAP!

Thank you for your outpouring of love, support, prayers, and positive thinking.

xoxo
