Yesterday, my Free Movie Monday coupon came (Thanks, Redbox!!!), so I swung by WalMart to hit up my local Redbox kiosk for a movie (or two). I did not have anything in particular in mind, and since it was Free Movie Monday (once a month,Redbox sends out coupon codes by text message to their customers), I wanted to go for a movie I would not normally choose. Nothing to lose when the movie is free free free! Right?

The line behind me was horrendously long, so I vowed to make snap decisions on movies, rather than keep everyone waiting behind me. Normally I spend a few minutes online reserving movies, or can spend a few moments at the kiosk since there is not normally a line. However, I wasn’t able to reserve online this time, and I certainly wouldn’t want to be the 15th person down the line waiting to get to the kiosk! Anyway …

The first movie I picked up was Cake Eaters, which I have no real opinion on at all. But wait: it was free! WIN!

The second movie I picked up was Taking Chance. All I saw of the movie was Kevin Bacon was the star … and he was in uniform. I <3 KB, so I decided to grab bit up. I tend to like military movies, so I figured it would be a win-win.

Holy COW.

It did not take long for me to stop doing other things and pay attention. Nor did it take long for the tears to start welling up and pushing forward.. Before long, I was crying. Tween watched with me, and was just as emotional. She didn’t understand all of it, but she understood the important bits. I highly recommend watching, enjoying, and experiencing.

After watching the entire movie, I saw that it is based on a true story.

Go. Watch. Enjoy.
