Skate, Skate, Skate It All Out (#198/365)

My friend (I’m gonna call her June from now on, b/c she likes things to be perfect, which reminds me of June Cleaver … although she’s not so corny as that ;)) ..

Anyway, my friend June’s son turned 10 last week, and he had a skating party today at the local skating rink. It was fun, being there, watching everyone get up on skates. CJ had been skating before, as had Lil Lady and Lil B and CJ’s friends (don’t know their names). However, it was the first skating round for Lil K and Lil C. By the end of the 3 hours we were there, they were using both feet and shuffling around the floor in total comfort. I wouldn’t call it skating yet, but they were doing a damn good job.

Lil Lady was more hesitant - she can push off with one foot, roll with the other. She wouldn’t try any other way, no matter how much I tried to encourage her. I even tried straight out telling her, and that didn’t work either. Oh well. I cannot exactly show her - the skates at the rink are pretty crappy and not worth taking chances on with my ankles. All of the kids had a great time, stuffed themselves with pizza and soda and cake.

It was a great day, and I hope CJ enjoyed it as much as all of us did! He seemed to - he was a little bummed out when we left. But I was sick, and *really* needed to come home and nap away the sinus headache I had acquired.

I see more skating days in our very near future. :) And, when things are more stable financially, I’m getting a set of blades so Lil Lady & I can go together. WOOT!
